I can’t get the pico to light this 3 wire led strip. I can connect to the board, but I get nothing out of my lights. I have the 5v all tied together, the grounds all tied together, and the data are connected. Can anyone help me troubleshoot? Thanks much.
- did you test the led strip with another controller?
- you did configure the pico to output the proper LED protocol? (because by default it will not, and nothing will light up)
Hey there thanks for the troubleshooting tips.
The lights definitely work, I was using them with the larger pixelblaze controller previously.
I also tried cycling through all of the LED options in the settings, but none of them worked.
I can confirm that the board is functional. I was able to get it to work with another strip by soldering it straight to the strip.
Is there something that I’m missing with the way I’m using power or ground? I can’t think of what else is happening.
It’s probably going to be something simple but non-obvious since everything works in isolation.
- Double-check the wiring with a multimeter.
- Check that there isn’t an accidental short between DATA and CLOCK. Looks like CLOCK is just a wire not connected to anything? Could desolder it if you aren’t using it.
- Double check the direction of the LEDs - it’s easy to connect to the output side.
- Check LED settings, make sure auto off timer isn’t enabled, and max brightness and the brightness slider are up enough.
