LED Matrix Headband

I’d previously made an LED matrix headband with 5 rows of LEDs, and decided to go bigger with an 8-row headband. It turned out pretty nicely, though I used more duct tape than I should have! I made a mode (not shown) where the accelerometer lets it act as a level. I love the PB pico for wearables!

Thats awesome! What battery did you use?

Thank you! It’s a 14500 cylindrical lithium ion battery. Basically a 3.7 volt rechargeable battery. That’s the size of a AA cell.

You don’t prefer flat 1S lipos for their easier form factor?

I prefer the additional structural safety of cylindrical batteries in wearable, especially on ones that will go on my head. If I were going to use a rectangular LiPo, I’d want to make a protective case for it. For the AA sized LiIon, I use a simple, basic 1xAA battery holder that doesn’t take up a bunch of space.

Fair enough. There is something to be said for the extra protective envelope even if I don’t love the round form factor or the power density per amount of volume.
