Lux Lavalier - resoldering a broken necklace wire at battery cage

The necklace wire of my Lux Lavalier snapped off at the non-magnetic end of the battery cage.

I have a soldering iron and think I could fix it if I can get to the connection, but am looking for pointers for how to get the metal plate connector out of the battery holder. The wire broke off even w/ the battery cage surface, so I’m pretty sure I need to pull the metal plate to have any hopes of resoldering the wire to it.

Arrow in the pic points to the part I’m trying to extract!
Thanks for any ideas / help.

The plate is glued in with superglue. With some pliers you might be able to break it free and pull it out. Sometimes touching a soldering iron to it briefly helps, just don’t get it too melty since the battery housing is thermoplastic.

Update: I also messaged Debra from Geek Mom Projects about this, and she kindly offered to send me a replacement battery cage w/ wire so I can fix the necklace. Thanks Debra!
