Pixelblaze V3 Boot Loop

I have a Pixelblaze v3 that appears to be stuck in a reset loop. The indicator LED on the board constantly loops over the pattern of 1 second on then 3 flashes. This is with no LEDs or accessories connected to it, and with a stable power source. Very rarely I’ll see the WiFi AP briefly show up, but it’s impossible to connect before the board resets again.

Is it possible to completely reset the microcontroller without going through a wireless connection, or is this state unrecoverable?

Can you send a photo of the top and underside of your Pixelblaze? Try to get a nice macro shot if possible. It sounds like something is causing it to either reboot, or the button signal is getting pulled low (causing a reboot into setup mode).

Sure, here are some images of the board. If I hold the button, the indicator light will start rapidly flashing as expected, but it goes back into the reset loop afterwards.

To give more context, this issue started as I was editing a pattern. Perhaps I did something silly that caused it to crash or run out of memory, but the failsafe or reset button should work in this case no?

I don’t see anything on the board that might cause it, and any pattern problems would sort itself out after a couple of reboots as the fail-safe system kicks in. It’s rare, but possible for a pattern + software bug to cause a crash + reboot, but after a few times the PB will stop loading any patterns.

You mentioned it had a solid power source, but could you try powering it solo over USB from a computer to rule out the other power system?

I have also tried powering via USB and a 2A phone charger with no observable change in behavior. It also doesn’t change after allowing it to reset any number of times.

Here’s a short clip showing it resetting while connected to my PC.

Any idea if this can be salvaged, or is this one bricked?

If you mail it to me, I’ll repair or replace it for you. I’m curious what’s causing that problem.

That sounds great, thanks. How should I go about initiating that process?
