Tell Me Your Favorite LEDs for Various Projects!

I’m buying more lights to allow a group of students to build whatever they envision. I expect this will vary widely. Some will want to stretch out LEDs and “blanket” a field, LED matrix-style, to run animations, easy around a statue or similar.
Others will want to create archways people can walk through.
Others will want to have denser, flexible pieces they can use in wearables.
And still more will want to build very large multiple-matrix displays, operating in unison.

If you have favorites for any of these (standard type, vendor, etc.) do let me know. I also appreciate any power, wiring, and other tips you may have for such work. The gear will need to be reused. We will be outside for some of the work, but won’t leave on overnight in the rain - just an evening festival. And some may have work indoors. In the end we’ll want to disassemble most of these builds for storage or to reuse components with future groups.

Our current power supply collection are a few dozen 5v10a power supplies, plus mobile phone batteries for wearable projects.

Thanks for advice. It’s most sincerely appreciated as I’m still very new at all this & am hopeful we can create something very fun for all.

I hung up a bunch of LEDs so the class could recognize possibilities. Any major media that you think I missed that they should know about? This is uglier than I’d do in something permanent, but wanted to get these up as quickly as possible, so they’re just a bunch of PixelBlazes running various animations with lights magnetically hung on a white board:
