I’m Therese, half of Twisty Maurice — with Misty and our tech guy @ColtSevers (Andy Batt). I’m new to this forum. Twisty Maurice has been using Pixelblaze for a few years. We’re happy to call Ben our friend — he suggested I put a request for some coding help here.
We built a project called Oscillara ( Oscillara by Twisty Maurice -- heading to Maker Faire ) and @wizard helped us figure out a 3D map ( tube pyramid map · GitHub ) for it.
We’re building an update to it, and need some experienced coding help — we are adding a control surface for Oscillara and using 6 Adafruit VCNL4200 IR sensors ( Adafruit VCNL4200 Long Distance IR Proximity and Light Sensor [STEMMA QT / Qwiic] : Adafruit Industries, Unique & fun DIY electronics and kits ) to create 6 variables (distances).
We will plug these variables into the pixeblaze to create interactivity for the user/viewer.
These signals could be passed wirelessly or wired — TBD
Goals:
Primary: Identify and incorporate 6 variables into the existing 2D and 3D patterns we use.
- a spiral (left/right)
- a bloom (in/out)
- rings (both single color and multicolor)
Secondary: Create new code/patterns that take advantage of our X-Y-Z axis and offer user-controlled 6 variables. We want to push beyond flatter patterns into something that feels a bit more dimensional, more 3D, more alive.
Variables (?): Speed, Direction, Color or Hue Shift, Next Pattern, Previous Pattern
Other? Very open to ideas.
We have a small budget set aside for this, and our goal is to have everything wrapped by early September. This is not a project for TTITD.
