Oscillara by Twisty Maurice -- heading to Maker Faire

hello all – I’m heading to Maker Faire to exhibit my work as J.S.E. Electrical Life LTD, showing OBSCURA and Cellular Resonance (find me and I’ll give you a sticker) BUT I’m also there as the Technical Director for the TWISTY MAURICE art collective! Lead Artists Therese Gietler and Misty Post!

We’re showing off the newest of the new: Oscillara!

Follow the JUMP to see videos, more images and read about it from the Twisty Maurice POV.

I used 2 Pixelblazes and 8 Output Expanders – we have 60 channels of LED goodness in this build – why? Because we’re trying to do things the hard way

That includes working with @wizard to design the 3d pixel map and use his big brain to figure out the best way to drive this.

Happy to share technical nitty gritty if it’s of interest – just ping me in this thread and let me know.

Short stuff: I used chinese “areo” plugs to distribute the channels (10pins each), used Anderson Powerpole heavy duty plugs to output my DC, used Electrocookie soldered breadboards to built on, a Meanwell LRS-350-12v power supply routed through a Blue Sea distro fuse block. Not in the picture: I added a draw fan at the top right and a vent port at the bottom left to cool the case. Lots of 3d printed interface and mounting parts.

Cheers
